Poorhouse Cemetery Veterans Day Ceremony
Description
Join the WVU Parkersburg Art Club, Veterans Corps and campus community for a special Veterans Day ceremony honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans laid to rest at the Wood County Poorhouse Cemetery.
Join us at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11 at the Wood County Poorhouse Cemetery on the WVU Parkersburg campus for an annual tribute recognizing veterans who served from the Revolutionary War through World War II.
During the ceremony, volunteers will place American flags on the graves of 23 veterans, followed by a moment of silence in their honor. This annual event is a collaboration between Dr. Lauri Reidmiller, WVU Parkersburg Art Professor, and Raymona Grant, Veterans Advocate and Sergeant First Class (U.S. Army, Retired), representing the Veterans Corps. All WVU Parkersburg students and members of the campus community are invited to participate in this meaningful opportunity to honor local veterans, demonstrate patriotism and give back through community service.
For more information, contact Dr. Lauri Reidmiller at lauri.reidmiller@wvup.edu.
Please note: Registration is not required to attend. Signing up simply allows us to send you helpful email and text reminders leading up to the event.
